Thanks to everyone who came out to Friction Fest 2011 – we had a blast, and we hope you did too!
It has been an honor to be able to make this Festival happen at the mighty Berghain. It’s scenery made every performance even more impressive.

Also – again all thanks go out to you – our guests – you guys are the official headliner.YOU make this festival happen, YOU make it as beautiful and special as it is, YOU create its unmatched atmosphere. We especially woud like to thank you so much for showing your respect and love for every single band, no matter what genre they are from or what music they play.

We still got some tickets available through all box offices using CTS(http://frictionfest.de/tickets). Tickets will also be available at the door(1day – 30€ / 2 days – 55€).

Also we’ve uploaded you some pictures of the process of printing the FRICTION FEST posters. We got two different designs, one of them being provided by our poster contest winner Sebastián Alejandro Gallardo Wolff(motif “The Key”).
Both Designs are limited to 30 pieces available at the merch stand for just 10€.

The lineup for Friction Fest 2011 is now complete!

We are happy to present ELECTRIC WIZARD, KHOMA and HUMANFLY as the latest additions to the lineup.

In case you haven’t had a chance to attend Friction Fest last year and would like to get an idea of what it’s all about, check out this trailer here:

the limited tickets for Saturday are sold out. There are still 2-day tickets for sale as well as single-day tickets at our webshop. You can also buy tickets at any CTS ticket offices such as www.eventim.de.

KHOMA to replace AMPLIFIER

Following Amplifier’s cancellation, we’re happy to announce KHOMA’s appearance at Friction Fest 2011. This will be their first ever show in mainland Europe !!! 2010 saw Khoma, featuring Johannes Persson and Fredrik Kihlberg of CULT OF LUNA, return with a new album after 3 years of silence. “A Final Storm” is built on subtle dynamics and contrasts between restrained calm moments and impending walls of guitars crashing in on the listener – always fueled by Jan Jämte’s haunting, melancholic vocals. The band recently won the national Swedish radio awards in the category ‘best rock band of 2010′. We are very much looking forward to their appearance at Friction Fest, which will coincide with a vinyl release of “A Final Storm” on Pelagic Records!

Amplifier cancellation

We regretfully announce the cancellation of Amplifier’s performance at Friction Fest 2011.
Unfortunately, there was some confusion on the booking-side of things. We were recently informed through a newsletter that Amplifier have already scheduled a Berlin-date at Festsaal Kreuzberg on June 8th, 2010, only 6 weeks after Friction Fest. This information had not gotten through to us before. The band and us mutually decided that their performance at Friction Fest no longer makes sense under these circumstances. We would like to encourage everyone to go see this great band play live at Festsaal Kreuzberg in June instead.
We thoroughly regret this cancellation and would have loved to see the band play at our festival, but feel that the uniqueness of their performance at Friction Fest would have been compromised by a Berlin club show shortly afterwards. We will announce a replacement for Amplifier at Friction Fest as soon as possible.

Poster design contest

MYSPACE and FRICTION FEST bring you the opportunity to design a poster for the festival. We will pick one winner from all contributors, who will receive the following prices:
- 2 tickets for FRICTION FEST 2011 (worth 110 euro)
- 1 special FRICTION FEST T-shirt
- 1 copy each of all FRICTION FEST posters that will be printed.

Obviously, we will print up a limited edition of the winner’s poster for sale at FRICTION FEST 2011!
The poster should have a maximum of 3 colours and should be in A2 format. Upload your drafts until March 20th at MYSPACE and send us the link, or email us at contest@frictionfest.com.
