Berghain front The festival premises are conveniently situated near Ostbahnhof in Berlin-Friedrichshain. They provide the perfect ambiance for a festival meant to be a little more than a music festival: the massy edifice is a former cogeneration plant, built in the 1960s in the neo-classical style, and rebuilt into a techno club in 2004.
Over the course of the past few years, Berghain has emerged as the “aorta of the international techno- and club-culture scene” (Spex Magazine). Berghain’s massive 6-point surround sound system built by the British company Funktion-one attracts 2000-3000 visitors every weekend.

Biergarten outside the Berghain Today, the endless cues on weekend nights tell a unique story of success – and it is this success that allows Berghain to pursue an explorative booking policy and to venture into new territories: it is not the dancefloor-imperative that distinguishes the club; the focus is on more abrasive types of electronic music and the willingness to explore new grounds. In that, Berghain and Friction Fest are a perfect match!

the second Stage at Berghain's Kantine We would like to point out that it is not allowed to take photographs inside the Berghain. It is Berghain’s own inhouse policy that whatever happens inside of Berghain, stays inside of Berghain. Please respect this policy.
